EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES AT ERZINCAN ANATOLIAN HIGH SCHOOL

EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES AT ERZINCAN ANATOLIAN HIGH SCHOOL

We prepared a program to celebrate EDL. We invited our headmaster, teachers and all students who take English Literature Lesson. We gave a brief explanation about EDL and its history. Firstly, students read Nazım Hikmet Ran's poem called Shall I be a cloud? in Turkish, English, Spanish, French and German. Another student read an Arabic Poem. Then 14 students said the same sentence (We all smile in the same language) in 14 different European Languages such as Finnish, Hungarian, Slovakian, Greece, Italian, Portuguese and more. Turkish translation of the sentence was announced at the end. We expected the spectators guess the language of that sentence they heard. One of the student said this sentence in sign language. We played a Flag-Country-Language game. Finally, one student sang an English song and we completed the program by taking photos. We showed all the photos and posters on the school notice boards.
